Adding the Fellowship Calendar to your Google Calendar

Step 1: Copy the calendar link for the Civic Innovators Fellowship

Step 2: Click the + icon at the bottom right of the calendar to add the fellowship calendar to your personal calendar.

Step 3: Under “Other calendars,” check the “Civic Innovators Fellowship Calendar” box to ensure you see the fellowship calendar!

Setting up Notifications: 

Computer: 

  • Important: To change notification settings, you must open Google Calendar in an internet browser, like Google Chrome or Safari. You might be asked to let calendar.google.com show notifications.

  • You can change notification preferences for all your events on Google Calendar.

    • On your computer, open Google Calendar.

    • In the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings.

    • On the left, under “General,” click Notification Settings.

    • Under “Notification settings,” you can:

      • Turn notifications on or off: Click the Notifications drop-down and select how you want to receive notifications.

      • Adjust the timing of snoozed notifications: Turn on “Desktop notifications,” then click Show snoozed notifications and customize your timing.

      • Only get notifications if you respond “Yes” or “Maybe” to an event: Click the box next to "Notify me only if I have responded Yes or Maybe."

iPhone & iPad: 

  • Note: Changes you make on your mobile device sync with your computer notifications. For example, if you choose a "1 hour before" notification on your phone, you also get a pop-up notification on your computer 1 hour before your event.

  • General settings:

    • Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.

    • In the top left, tap Menu Menu.

    • At the bottom, tap Settings Settings.

    • Choose a calendar.

    • Select Change, Remove, or Add a notification.

  • For single events:

    • Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.

    • Open the event.

    • Tap Edit Edit.

    • In the notifications section, tap a notification to change or remove it, or tap Add another notification.

    • In the top right, tap Save.

Android: 

  • Note: Changes you make on your mobile device sync with your computer notifications. For example, if you choose a "1 hour before" notification on your phone, you also get a pop-up notification on your computer 1 hour before your event.

  • General settings:

    • Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.

    • In the top left, tap Menu Menu.

    • At the bottom, tap Settings Settings.

    • Select one of your calendars.

    • Select Change, Remove, or Add a notification.

Troubleshooting: 

  • “Browser doesn’t support notifications” error

    • This error means that you need to update your browser to get event notifications.

  • Didn’t get a notification

    • Quick tips: 

      • Make sure you turn on notifications for your calendar. Follow the steps above.

      • Check that you chose to show notifications in your browser’s permission settings. If not, turn on desktop notifications.

      • Make sure Google Calendar remains open in your internet browser.

    • Google Chrome

      • Open Google Chrome.

      • At the top right, click More More and then Settings.

      • ​At the bottom of the page, click the Advanced Down arrow.​

      • Click Privacy and Security then Site Settings, and then Notifications.

      • Next to "Allow," click Add.

      • Enter calendar.google.com and then Click Add.

    • All other browsers

      • Check your browser’s support site for specific instructions.

      • Open your web browser.

      • Go to your browser’s notification preferences.

      • Add permissions for calendar.google.com.
